A Commitment to Elevating Women's Golf

One of the top financial companies in Southeast Asia, Maybank, has always supported both community development and competitive sports. The group is using the Maybank Championship to increase women's golf in the area and around the world. The event, which is in its second year of collaboration with the LPGA, continues to provide a stage for some of the top female golfers in the world to display their abilities while also encouraging young athletes in ASEAN countries to follow their goals.

The 2024 event is expected to expand upon the success of the first competition, which featured French golfer Céline Boutier defeating Atthaya Thitikul in a dramatic nine-hole playoff that was the second-longest in LPGA history. With its intense competition and memorable experiences, the tournament solidified its spot on the world golf calendar in 2023 and became a must-watch event on the LPGA Tour.

Venue: The West Course at KLGCC

Once again, the renowned Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC), namely its West Course, will play host to the Maybank Championship. Recognized for its flawless fairways, demanding design, and breathtaking scenery, the West Course has emerged as a top professional golf destination. The ASEAN Qualifier: A New Stage for Regional Talent

A unique chance for female golfers from all over Southeast Asia is offered by the Maybank Championship ASEAN Qualifier, one of the tournament's most notable aspects in 2024. Held at KLGCC on August 27 and 28, this 36-hole qualifying tournament gives the top five players from ASEAN countries a chance to qualify for the main event. The qualifier, which is open to amateur and professional golfers from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines, is a prime example of Maybank's dedication to developing local talent and providing opportunities for regional athletes to participate internationally.

The ASEAN Qualifier is a special program that supports Maybank's overarching goal of encouraging diversity and inclusivity in sports. The tournament showcases the potential of ASEAN athletes and advances women's golf in the area by providing a pathway for players who might not otherwise be able to participate at this level.
