ROCKSTAR by LISA: Is It the Ultimate Dance Anthem or Just Another Pop Trap?

Song Review: Exploring "ROCKSTAR" by LISA

When I first pressed play on LISA’s latest track, ROCKSTAR, my reaction was admittedly lukewarm. As someone whose musical tastes usually veer away from pop and trap, the song didn’t immediately resonate with me. However, it wasn’t long before I began to appreciate its unique qualities and the way it evoked personal memories. The track reminded me of a student from my past who frequently sang Lisa’s songs in class, adding a nostalgic layer to my listening experience.

The primary theme of ROCKSTAR seems to center around showcasing LISA’s dance skills rather than delivering a profound message. The song is designed to highlight her dynamic performance abilities, and it succeeds in that regard. The standout lyric, “Lisa can you teach me Japanese…,” reflects a common Western misconception of assuming people from less well-known Asian countries are from more prominent ones like Japan or Korea. This line, while playful, also touches on a subtle cultural commentary.

Musically, ROCKSTAR features an engaging synth beat during the verses that adds to its energetic vibe. While the instrumentation may not be groundbreaking, it’s effectively executed and complements the song's overall impact. The song’s structure is well-crafted, with smooth transitions between verses, chorus, and bridge, making it a pleasant listen from start to finish.

LISA’s vocal performance on this track, while solid, doesn’t particularly stand out. It feels average compared to her other work, lacking the standout quality that some of her previous hits have showcased. However, this doesn’t detract significantly from the song’s appeal. The repetitive and catchy nature of the lyrics is reminiscent of her earlier hits, like “Money,” maintaining a familiar and enjoyable vibe.

One of the highlights of ROCKSTAR is its music video, which adds a vibrant visual component to the track. The video’s dynamic choreography and striking visuals complement the song’s energetic rhythm, enhancing the overall experience. It’s evident that the video was crafted to accentuate LISA’s performance skills and bring an extra layer of excitement to the track.

Although ROCKSTAR might not serve as the ideal introduction to LISA’s music for newcomers, it still holds value within her discography. It’s a fun, high-energy track that fits perfectly into a workout playlist or a party setting. The song’s upbeat tempo and engaging beat make it a great choice for boosting energy and enjoyment.

In conclusion, while ROCKSTAR may not be my personal favorite among LISA’s songs, it undoubtedly contributes positively to her body of work. The track effectively highlights her dance talents and provides a catchy, entertaining experience. Its blend of energetic beats, playful lyrics, and visually captivating music video makes it a worthy addition to LISA’s repertoire, showcasing her ability to deliver fun and engaging pop music.
